HOW TO FIND US:
If your are coming from Mexico overland, please scroll down.
To get to us from Guatemala City or its airport you have two major options:
A) Take a taxi to Calle 41 in Zona 4 where the buses for the Department of Solola are leaving. Take the bus to San Pedro La Laguna which leaves roughly every hour until 5pm, on Sunday there are no morning departures. Watch out for fake bus attendents selling ticket and handling luggage before the bus leaves. Double-check with locals before paying to be safe. The journey itself is very safe, but buses may get crammed at times.
It’s about 3 hours until you come down a spectacular road into the crater. Get off at the next village after the steep switchbacks: San Pablo. From the drop-off point take a tuktuk (three-wheeler taxi) to Tzununa for about Q20 per person.

B) Make your way to Antigua Guatemala. There are direct shuttles ($10) right outside Arrivals at the Guatemala City airport. Antigua is a beautiful colonial town, a much better option to stay than the city in case you arrive late.
From Antigua take the tourist shuttle to Panajachel leaving at 8 am & 2 pm daily and taking about 2.5 hours. From ‘Pana’ take a boat (‘lancha’) to Tzununa, which takes about 30 min and costs Q20.
Call in advance if you’d like to be picked up. Otherwise, from the pier walk up the main road to the main square (10 min), keep going straight for another 5 minto reach the ‘Bamboo Hotel’. Cross the bridge here, take the next left and after a minute or so you should see the dark retreat dome on your left. You can also take a tuctuc from the pier straight to the Bamboo Hotel for Q5-10.
Make your way to San Cristobal De Las Casas in Chiapas state. From here there are daily shuttles to Lago Atitlan (Panajachel) and take a boat from there toTzununa, follow the directions above to reach the ashram from the pier.
